goldGold Award winner in Sovereign Health Care Good All Round Awards – November 2013

We were delighted to win the Gold Award in the smaller charities category of the Sovereign Health Care Good All Round Awards!

The £10,000 award has gone towards the ever-increasing cost of running The Bradford Soup Run.

In order to win the award we ran a mainly online campaign to ask for email votes using our new Facebook page and twitter account, as well as emailing friends, families, colleagues etc.

A very big Thank You goes to everyone who voted for us! Our thanks also go to Sovereign Health Care for their continued support and giving us a gentle prod towards Facebook and Twitter as well as an update of our website.

Finalists BBC Food and Farming Awards – November 2006

BBC Food and Farming AwardsIts always nice to be considered for an award, and even better to win one, but life isn’t always like that.

Our even being considered as a finalist for the BBC sponsored British Food & Farming Awards did raise more than an occasional eyebrow.

And although we were on the top three, we didn’t win (judge Jamie Oliver awarded two first prizes to two schools) we know that our policy of serving the best quality food we can afford was applauded and acknowledged by some of the best chefs in the country.

They, too, recognised that the homeless require more sustenance than those with regular eating patterns.

To raise funds for The Bradford Soup Run,, in November 2007 a play, Homeless!Cast of Homeless!written by our Director, John Tempest was performed for the first time at The Hockney Theatre, Bradford Grammar School.

This was a memorable ‘home-coming’ as he had been expelled from BGS some 42 years previously!

The Bradford Soup Run also won the Best Community Group section in the Bradford’s Best Millennium Community Awards 1999
